Georgia is a country emerged as an independent state in 1991 from the collapsing Soviet Union. Situated strategically where Europe meets Asia, Georgia has a unique, rich and ancient cultural heritage. Georgia is also known for its famous traditions of hospitality and cuisine. It is scientifically known as the first human civilization outside of Africa, supposed to be 1.75 million years old. The Tushetian village Bochorna and Svanetian commune Ushguli in Georgia are the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Europe.
